How to Book a Fashion Inspired Maternity Photoshoot

The most exciting thing about your Maternity Photoshoot is the ability to step way out of your everyday comfort zone and try something really new and glamourous for yourself.

I mean, what Mama wouldn't want to step out of their activewear and slip into a couple of hours of glam in front of a hair fan?

Recently, every session whether it be an outdoor Maternity Photography in Ararat or family photography session my gorgeous clients have ALL said something along the lines of...

"I felt so beautiful today"

Honestly, I totally get it. Back when we were in our 20s we were able to feel glamorous every weekend! Hours were spent doing our hair, choosing outfits and shoes to go out with friends for the evening. As we grow and our priorities turn from nights out on the town to nights in with Netflix - I think a part of us really reminisce the time and effort we used to put into ...feeling good.

Although it is a totally natural progression & I wouldn't give my nights in with my family for the world - I certainly wonder if overall the reason why maternity photoshoots and glamorous photography is so popular these days for us?

For me, I used to love styling my friends and taking their photos before we would head out in our 20s. I suppose it's always been my passion to make women feel and look amazing! So I guess it really is no surprise that I adore my fashion styled maternity photography sessions. It gives me a chance to slip back to that feeling I used to love in my younger days, and even more so now that I can create you a set of photographs you will love!

So, when booking your Gold Coast Maternity photoshoot what are some things to consider?

1. The Style

There are so many different ways to style your maternity photography session. Casual singlet & jeans, A dramatic gown or drape, florals, fashion outfits or even lingerie. I link my clients to my exclusive online "Look-Book" where you can choose from the styles I have in my client closet or get inspired to design your own maternity dress style.

2. The Mood

You might like white & bright, or dark & dramatic photography, perhaps a bit more colour or pastels are your thing. For my clients, I also link to my online moodboards to help them decide what sort of colours they love & will look good in there home. Pinterest is another great resource for designing your pregnancy photoshoot.

3. Professional Make Up

I have a couple of artists I can recommend to give you a beautiful makeup look for your maternity photography session. Honestly, it is well worth putting in the extra time & cost to treat yourself. Remember - this is not an everyday thing. It is literally once, twice or maybe three times in your whole life! You should absolutely splurge and treat yourself to a gorgeous maternity look and style. Your active pants & top-knot bun will be right where you left them - I promise haha!

Most of all, it is a great idea to look through your photographers online portfolio. Generally all the looks they have created should be replicated easily so if you see a look you love - share it with them and let them know. Honestly, It really helps me to design your maternity photoshoot around what you love. Communication is key here, and always ask for a phone call to clarify any information or questions around looks you might have.
